About Oct31st.org Ever since I was a child, I have loved Halloween. Some of my earliest memorys of this spooky day stem from trick-or-treating in my grandparent’s neighborhood. The neighborhood was lit with Jack-O-Lanterns, trick-or-treators and paper luminaries lining driveways. My mother rasied me to love Halloween, each year I watched the same holiday specials - The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Garfield's Halloween Adventure. My mom also carved Sesame Street, Bert and Ernie pumpkins and had a custom made Elvira Mistress of the Dark costume made by my Aunt. I recently found out my mom won a costume contest at work for her Elvira costume, first prize was a ham! When I recently met Elvira in August 2009, I told her the story and she replied "That is the first time I have ever heard anyone winning a ham for looking like me and honey I've have heard it all." As a young teen, we started to decorate our yard every year, first with some cobwebs and a few cheap tombstones from the grocery store. As years passed, I found the internet was a great place to share my love of Halloween. There was many Halloween sites in the mid-late 1990's and I was so inspired by the love/support of this spooky day, that I had to create my own website. My website has gone though many changes, as I have changed and grown personally and professionally. In 2002, I opened Oct31st.org and studied some of the latest design trends, all while trying to stay on top of modern design/coding standards. I was so inspired to create my own Halloween site that I studied Web Design/Graphic Design in High School. Later, I attended college and recieved my B.S in Webdesign/Multimedia and I also wrote a term paper on the History of Halloween (PDF format). Fast forward a few years and my collection of Halloween items has grown into Tombstones, foggers, skeletons, homemade projects, candelabras etc. Every year the collection seems to grow and grow. Every year the space to store it gets smaller and smaller! Halloween is such a large part of my life, it transcends beyond just one day or one month a year. I want to thank Rotting Flesh Radio, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, TV shows (Buffy/ Charmed/Dead like Me/Ghost Whisperer), my parents, the Halloween community and all things that are spooky! I hope this site helps make your Halloween the best yet! Happy Halloween.
